The
Hercules Myths from the "Ancient Wisdom"
Tradition of Alice Bailey
The metaphysical writings of Alice Bailey express very profound spiritual
and esoteric truths. She, and those beings who inspired her, thought
highly enough of the Hercules myths to include them, with commentary,
in her writings on the sun sign of the month. A new labor is examined
each month. Many serious students of the Bailey work and of the "ancient
wisdom" tradition that she presents, or rather, re-represents,
read the myth out loud during monthly Full Moon meetings. And we invite
you to do so, with all of us, knowing that we are part of a larger
human circle of aspiration.
A
complete on-line edition of this work and of the collected works of
Alice Bailey is available on www.netnews.org,
whose home page we encourage you to visit. Netnews.org also has available
a CD-ROM of the collected work of Alice Bailey.
We have also added a link to Marianne's
page on netnews.org, which includes the 12 monthly meditation
themes described above, and a summary of the Hercules labour of the
month.
NB: We have provided renderings of these esoteric
mantras as they appear in the Labors of Hercules myths. We've
taken our wording here from the Labours Of Hercules: An Astrological
Interpretation by Alice A. Bailey, New York Lucis Publishing Co,
1982, pp. 210-214. We have also consulted an excellent book by Alan
Oken, Soul-Centered Astrology, The Crossing Press, Freedom,
Ca 1996, ch 9, The 12 Astrological Signs, pp. 161-249. The wording
we have used differs in some cases, from that of Marianne, on her
netnews.org homepage. We consider these only stylistic differences.
