Search Engine Optimizing:
Background Information
When
you are use a search engine, as Google, or Webcrawler, to search for
information, do you click on sites that come up in the first one or
two screen scans (usually between 50-60 sites)? Or do you continue
to scroll, 10 or 20 screen scans more, to click on sites that come
up maybe 200 or 400 sites later? That's a fair amount of waiting,
and scrolling. Chances are, that you will click on those web sites
that came up in the first or two screen scans.
If its your area that is being searched,
don't you want your site to come up in the first one or two screen
scans? Chances are, you do. And so the field of Search Engine Optimizing,
or SEO was born. Techniques have been developed to give sites higher
rankings in the search engines, and cause them to move up toward the
head of the class, in ranking. In the case of commercial web sites,
higher ranking often translates into clicks, click throughs, and purchases.
