This concise Philosophy Poem Handbook describes the
key ideas of Western philosophy in a series of poems. Poetry has been
greatly honored in Western thought, as both an art form and vehicle
for expression, from the time of the ancient Greeks through the present.
Poetry is also fun ...so, without further ado, we present the ideas
of the great philosophers in verse a clear, concise guide
for students and anyone interested in understanding Western philosophy.
* Paul holds a doctorate in Philosophy from
the University at Buffalo (SUNY) and taught this subject in various
colleges for 9 years. He specifically wrote these poems for people
with or without a background in philosophy, who want to read about
the basic themes and writers in a poetic format. Ideal for students
to help them undertstand basic concepts, and to provide ideas for
papers. The poems on Western philosophy are not contained in any other
booklet by the author.

EROTIC POEMS
The poems in the booklet, I'm The Baddest Girl On the Internet
and Other Erotic Poems, are playful and erotic. But they are also
Buddhistic in their tone, insofar as they are reflections on, and
of, desire. If any activity can provide the occasion for mindfulness
and awareness, then sex is particularly well suited for this, for
in sex, desire is often intensified, with little restraint by the
person. As it is said, in sex one "gives oneself over to desire."
This is stronger language than is usual in most other activities,
and certainly provides the basis for a poetic idiom of both mindfulness
and of pleasure.
ME TOO
We need some subtlety
in our pornography.
A strip of lace,
a pretty face that wears a moan
May move us more
than sex alone.
It is desire
who leaves us breathless.
